Editorial draft for local review

Cloud AI is a different workload from local rendering.

Browser-based ChatGPT and Claude requests and HeyGen cloud generation primarily depend on the service, account access and a reliable connection. Buying a larger local GPU does not unlock a cloud plan or make its model smarter. Local editing, exports, transcription and local models place different demands on memory, storage and compute.

Start by testing your current machine with the real mix: MLS and CRM tabs, a video call, documents and a short edit. Our practical starting target is 16 GB memory and 512 GB storage for browser-first work; 24–32 GB is worth evaluating for heavy multitasking and regular media work. These are editorial starting points, not measured Realtor benchmarks.

A Mac mini fits a permanent desk.

Apple’s checked store lists Mac mini with M6 and M5 Pro configurations, including M6 with 24 GB memory and 512 GB storage. Compare that configuration when you already own a usable monitor and peripherals. Choose based on your actual apps and display needs.

A mini is less useful as your only device if you need to work at showings. Include monitor, keyboard, pointing device, webcam, microphone, cables and backup storage. Apple checkout prices were not exposed in the readable source; request the exact configuration quote before comparing totals.

MacBook Air or Pro when your office moves.

The checked Apple store lists 13- and 15-inch M5 MacBook Air configurations with 16 or 24 GB memory. Air is our first comparison for agents who mainly use browser tools, documents, calls and occasional short edits. Check your required display connections and apps before choosing.

Apple lists MacBook Pro with M5, M5 Pro and M5 Max. Evaluate Pro when regular long local exports, demanding effects or specific ports justify it. We have not timed those workloads here. Laptop prices need an exact checkout quote; avoid treating a chip family as a complete configuration.

Mac Studio needs a specific reason.

Apple’s checked Studio store lists M5 Max and M5 Ultra configurations, including M5 Max with 36 GB memory and 512 GB storage. Studio belongs on the shortlist for sustained local media production or a tested local-model workload, rather than ordinary cloud prompting.

Before spending more, time an actual representative project, check the app’s supported acceleration and estimate whether the saved time matters. Local model memory requirements depend on model size, quantization and context. More memory alone does not guarantee the model will be useful.

Compare the complete setup.

Use the setup worksheet linked from the computer desk. Total the exact computer quote, peripherals, backup, warranty or support, tax, shipping and the first year of recurring services. Enter zero for equipment you will reuse.

Check Windows-only brokerage tools, MLS/browser requirements, external-display support and available service. Ask about the exact return policy so you can test your real workload. No affiliate links or vendor benchmark claims are used here.
